Find a blood donor clinic here and give the gift of life !!!For the year ending March 31st. 2001, Masonic blood donors within the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario, contributed 24205 units of blood - surpassing the 2000 total of 22026 units. In the inter-district competition, Ontario District (which includes Cedar Lodge No. 270) took first place for the fourth time in 5 years with 2,844 units. 2nd. was Algoma District with 2,450 units and 3rd. Wellington district with 1,954 units.
Who can become a Masonic blood donor ?
No Masonic affiliation is required. Anyone who was encouraged to donate by a Mason and meets the requirements of the Canadian Blood Services, can add their donation as a statistic towards the Masonic blood donor program.
The following example illustrates the procedure.
Bill Smith, along with his wife Helen and eldest daughter Kate gave blood recently. Bill is not a Freemason but his friend at work, Jack Jones is a member of the local lodge. Bill gives the following information to his friend - the dates that he, Helen and Kate donated, along with the number of donations each had accumulated, e.g. Bill 57, Kate, 36, Helen, 4. and all donated on Monday, August 28th. The next time Jack Jones goes to lodge he enters the statistics in the lodge donor book. It's that simple.
After 50 donations donors start to accumulate certificates, first from the Canadian Blood Services and then after 100 donations, from the Governor General of Canada. In addition, Masons will receive a certificate from Grand Lodge after 100, 150, 200 etc. donations.
Remember, the life you save might be your own!
