One of the family grocers of old St. John's was W. Bowman, situated on New Gower Street, opposite to the New City Hall. The "Cart Horse" delivered heavy goods and brooms. The brooms were made in the Broom Factory, in the penitentiary, down by Quidi Vidi Lake. Circa 1920.  B.J.K -- 722-3157
